### What does 4plebs do?
4plebs provides an archive and search facility for 4chan content. It preserves historical posts and threads from selected boards, allowing you to find material that may have been pruned or removed from the live 4chan site.
**The lowdown:** It’s a historical archive rather than a conventional search engine or social-media platform.
**Note:** An archived post demonstrates that the material was archived by 4plebs but does not, by itself, establish the poster's real-world identity, authorship, intentions or the truth of claims contained within the post.
### How to Use:
**1. Identify the relevant 4chan board, keyword, phrase, thread or other known information.**
**2. Search 4plebs for the relevant material and review matching threads/posts, paying attention to dates, post numbers, replies and surrounding context.**
**3. Record the relevant URL, board, thread/post number, date/time and screenshots or other appropriate preservation information. Corroborate significant findings with independent sources where possible.**
