### What does Arctic Shift do?

Arctic Shift indexes large volumes of Reddit data and provides advanced search functionality across posts, comments, users and subreddits. Unlike Reddit's native search, it allows you to query historical discussions, locate deleted material preserved in archives, search by author, subreddit or keyword, and filter results using dates and other metadata.

**The lowdown:** It’s an effective resource for investigating online communities and historical social media activity.

### How to Use:

**1. Navigate to the search function on the site and select whether you want to search posts, comments, or users. Enter keywords, usernames or subreddit names and apply filters such as date range, score, subreddit or author to refine results.**

### Use in Reporting

Arctic Shift can support reporting by:

* Recovering historical Reddit discussions that may no longer appear in Reddit search.
* Identifying deleted or removed posts and comments preserved within archived datasets.
* Building timelines of user activity and online discussions.
* Analysing the spread of narratives, misinformation or emerging trends across Reddit communities.
* Identifying links between usernames, communities and recurring topics.
* Providing evidence of historical online discourse when corroborated with additional sources.
* Supporting attribution and contextual analysis during investigations involving social media activity.

Researchers investigating online extremism, cryptocurrency scams and coordinated influence campaigns frequently use Reddit archives alongside platforms such as the Internet Archive.

### Summary

Arctic Shift is best used during the collection, discovery, historical research and timeline analysis stages of the OSINT workflow, enabling investigators to uncover archived discussions, trace user activity and recover deleted content that may otherwise be difficult to locate.

**Note:** It should always be used alongside live Reddit searches, web archives and corroborating evidence to ensure accuracy and context.
