| How to use it | Browse communities, explore trending discussions, search topics, and track conversations across the Bluesky ecosystem. |
| Cost             | Free.                                                                                                                                                        |
| Account required | No for browsing. Yes to view saved feeds. |
| Cookies          | Minimal.                                                                                                                                                     |
| Ownership | Independent developer project. Ownership details not disclosed but not affiliated with the official Bluesky app. |
| Use in Reporting | Useful for tracking narratives, identifying emerging communities, and analysing discourse. |

### What does AzSky do?

AzSky is essentially a usability layer on top of Bluesky. It organises content into Reddit-style threads and topic hubs to make it easier to follow conversations or themes.

Instead of scrolling endlessly through feeds, you can:

* Spot trending discussions quickly.
* Follow topic-based threads.
* Identify key users driving conversations.
* Track how narratives evolve over time.

**The lowdown:** It’s especially useful if you’re monitoring decentralised or alternative social platforms where traditional tools don’t yet have strong coverage.

### How to Use:

**1. Browse active threads, topic areas and communities. Or pop your own search term into the search bar.**

**2. Click into posts to follow full conversations.**\
You can then pivot back to Bluesky if deeper account-level investigation is needed.

### Use in Reporting

AzSky is particularly useful when you need to:

* Map conversations rather than just collect posts.
* Identify emerging narratives early.
* Track decentralised social media activity.
* Provide structured examples of fuller discourse.

Whilst AzSky isn’t (yet) a widely documented, named tool in major public investigations, we can see how it will be useful for tracking early discourse around protests, conflicts, or political events before they appear on larger platforms. It's also ideal for following entire threads of claims and counterclaims, seeing how misinformation evolves, and capturing context rather than isolated posts.

| **Capabilities**                                      | **Limitations**                                                                                   |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Converts Bluesky content into structured discussions. | Dependent on Bluesky ecosystem (not a standalone data source). |
| Makes decentralised social media easier to navigate. | Coverage limited to what’s indexed/accessible via AT protocol. |
| Helps identify communities and topic clusters. | Lacks advanced filtering and export tools. |
| Surfaces trending conversations quickly. | Still an emerging project so interface and features are not at full functionality and may evolve. |

### Summary

AzSky sits primarily in the collection and processing stages of the OSINT workflow, helping analysts discover and organise conversations from Bluesky into structured, searchable threads. Of course content surfaced from Bluesky is still user-generated, unverified, and can be misleading or incomplete so, as always, make sure to verify elsewhere.

### Ownership

Independent developer project with no founder/developer details currently disclosed. It’s not affiliated with the official Bluesky app.

### Ethical Considerations

* Even though content is public, users may not expect structured analysis of their conversations.
* Be mindful when attributing posts to individuals as context can shift meaning.
* Avoid amplifying harmful or misleading narratives when reporting.
* Respect platform norms and evolving expectations around decentralised identity.
