### What does Bamqam do?

Bamqam brings together multiple streams of open-source intelligence and visualises them through a live interactive map. Instead of manually monitoring news outlets, OSINT accounts, military trackers, government alerts, and geopolitical feeds separately, users can view events in a single dashboard.

**The lowdown:** It can significantly speed up monitoring and discovery, but should not be treated as confirmed facts.

### How to Use:

**1. Open the dashboard and identify regions of interest. The map provides a quick visual overview of where significant events are occurring.**

| **Capabilities** | **Limitations** |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Aggregates multiple geopolitical and military information streams into a single dashboard. | Relies on external open-source information of varying quality. |
| Displays events through an interactive map interface. | Some events may be unverified or later disproven. |
| Provides real-time or near real-time situational awareness. | Limited transparency re source weighting and methodology. |
| Allows filtering by geography, event type, and topic. | Can prioritise speed over accuracy during fast-moving events. |
| Helps identify trends, hotspots, and emerging developments quickly. | Not a replacement for primary-source verification. |

### Summary

Bamqam is most valuable at the beginning of an investigation when monitoring developments and identifying stories worth deeper examination. However, users should treat the information as intelligence leads rather than verified facts and conduct independent verification before relying on findings.

### Ownership

Bamqam is owned and developed by [Nehemia Gershuni-Aylho](https://x.com/nehemia_ga), a photographer from Israel who was enlisted into the IDF (IAF) at aged 18. (Note: potential bias re conflicts).

### Ethical Considerations

* Aggregated intelligence feeds can contain misinformation, propaganda, or unverified claims.
* Fast-moving conflict reporting is particularly vulnerable to inaccuracies.
* Information should be independently verified before publication.
* Visualisation can sometimes create a false impression of certainty.
* Analysts should understand the difference between raw information and validated intelligence.
