### What does Bitbo do?

Bitbo is a Bitcoin data and analytics platform providing live and historical information on Bitcoin price, market activity, mining, supply and on-chain metrics.

The platform provides more than 150 Bitcoin charts, including metrics covering realised price, mining difficulty, hashrate, supply, market cycles and holder behaviour. It also provides a Bitcoin data API for programmatic access to on-chain metrics and technical indicators.

**The lowdown:** It provides market and on-chain context around Bitcoin activity.

### How to Use:

**1. Identify the Bitcoin metric or event you need to investigate such as price, hashrate, mining difficulty, realised price or supply, then select the relevant Bitbo chart.**

**2. Review the metric and its accompanying explanation to understand what the data represents.**

**3. Record the relevant figures, date/time and chart URL. Where possible, corroborate significant findings against the Bitcoin blockchain and independent cryptocurrency-data sources before including them in an investigation or report.**
| Provides extensive Bitcoin price, market and on-chain charts. | Focused primarily on Bitcoin rather than multiple cryptocurrencies. |
| Provides both current and historical Bitcoin data. | It’s not primarily an attribution or blockchain-investigation platform. |
| Covers metrics including mining, supply, realised price and market cycles. | Free data updates are slower than paid tiers. |
| Offers downloadable data and an API for programmatic analysis on paid access levels. | Some advanced charts, indicators and downloads require a subscription. |
| Can provide useful context around Bitcoin activity at a particular date or period. | Charts and metrics are analytical interpretations and should not automatically be treated as definitive evidence. |
| Useful for building historical financial and cryptocurrency context. |

                                                                                                       |

### Summary

Bitbo fits best during the enrichment, analysis, and verification stages of the OSINT workflow. Investigators can use it after identifying a Bitcoin transaction, address, incident or relevant date to establish the wider Bitcoin-market and blockchain context.

However, it’s not a substitute for a blockchain explorer or specialist blockchain-intelligence platform.

### Ownership

Bitbo was founded in 2020 by Christopher Gimmer and Marc Chouinard, headquartered in Ontario, Canada.

### Ethical Considerations

* Use publicly available blockchain information for legitimate and proportionate investigative purposes.
* Do not treat a Bitcoin address as automatically identifying a real-world individual or organisation.
* Corroborate significant findings with the underlying blockchain and independent sources.
* Record the date/time of data collection because market and on-chain metrics can change.
* Distinguish clearly between raw blockchain data and analytical metrics or interpretations.
* Avoid presenting market indicators or predictions as established facts.
* Be aware that cryptocurrency data can contribute to the identification or profiling of individuals when combined with other information.
