| Use in Reporting | Useful for discovering relevant accounts and communities connected to a target profile. |

### What does the Bluesky Follow Finder do?

Bluesky Follow Finder is a simple OSINT discovery tool that highlights accounts a profile is likely to be interested in based on their existing network.

It focuses on overlap, i.e. people who are followed by many accounts a profile already follows, but who that profile hasn’t followed yet.

This makes it useful for quickly identifying:

* Influential voices within a niche
* Emerging accounts in a community
* Shared points of interest across a network

**The lowdown:** It’s great for uncovering popular accounts in a network but only shows connections rather than activity or private info.

### How to Use:

**1. Enter a Bluesky handle and simply let the tool analyse the accounts that user follows.**

**2. Review the suggested accounts so you can look for frequently recommended profiles, identify niche experts/community hubs, and use results as leads for further investigation.**

### Use in Reporting

Bluesky Follow Finder can support:

* Identifying relevant or influential accounts within a network.
* Discovering community clusters indirectly through shared follows.
* Expanding an investigation outward from a known account.
* Finding additional leads for manual analysis.

While examples of public, high-profile investigations are limited due to the platform’s relative newness, the tool has clear applications in real-world scenarios. Analysts and journalists could use it to identify clusters of accounts, uncover key influencers, track the spread of misinformation, and monitor niche communities or political movements. It could also be useful for threat intelligence, helping researchers detect linked or coordinated accounts.

| **Capabilities** | **Limitations** |
| -------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Quickly surfaces relevant accounts. | Limited analytical depth compared to full OSINT tools (does not create network graphs/visualisations). |
| Simple & fast to use with no login required. | Dependent on public follow data. |
| Useful for network expansion and discovery. | Results can be biased towards popular accounts. |
| Highlights overlap in follow behaviour. |

                                                                                            |

### Summary

Bluesky Follow Finder is ideal for quick exploration and lead generation, best used in the collection and analysis stages of the OSINT workflow. However, it should only be used as a starting point, not a standalone analysis tool.

### Ownership

Developed by [Theo Sanderson](https://bsky.app/profile/theo.io), an independent developer and Assistant Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

### Ethical Considerations

* Use only publicly available data.
* Avoid assuming influence purely from follow overlap.
* Be aware of algorithmic bias toward larger accounts.
* Validate findings with additional sources.
* Respect user privacy and platform norms.
