### What does EDGAR Full Text Search do?

EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval) is the SEC's public filing system. The Full Text Search tool allows users to search not only company names but also the actual contents of filings.

This makes it particularly useful for OSINT investigations because information often appears deep within reports, exhibits, contracts, and disclosures that may not be visible through standard company searches.

**The lowdown:** It’s essentially a giant searchable archive of what companies are legally required to tell regulators. Unlike a normal web search, EDGAR contains info published under strict disclosure rules.

### How to Use:

**1. Visit the EDGAR Full Text Search portal and enter a keyword, company name, executive name, address, ticker symbol, or phrase in quotation marks.**

**2. Refine results using filters such as company name, date range, filing type etc.**

**3. Review the filings and use your browser's search function (Ctrl+F) to quickly locate relevant references within each document you review.**

**4. Cross-reference findings with company websites, news reporting, court records, and other OSINT sources to build a fuller picture.**
