### What does Nuwber do?

Nuwber is a people-search and data-broker service that aggregates information associated with individuals. Searches can be initiated using identifiers such as a name, telephone number, address, or email address.

It can help connect identifiers and build an initial picture of an individual by surfacing associated addresses, telephone numbers, names of relatives and other information.

**The lowdown:** It aggregates hard-to-manually-compile personal data into a single, searchable interface.

### How to Use:

**1. Enter a known identifier, such as a person's name, phone number, email address or address. If you have a location, you can also enter this alongside your person identifier as in the below:**

**2. Review the returned profiles and compare associated identifiers such as locations, telephone numbers, relatives and addresses.**

**3. Cross-check useful findings against independent sources before treating them as evidence. Record the relevant profile URL, search date and information returned.**

Google cookies such as SID and SSID may be present through Google services and are associated with authentication/security functions. An XSRF-TOKEN cookie supports protection against cross-site request forgery.

Cookie presence and expiry may vary depending on browser, location, consent and third-party services loaded.

### Use in Reporting

Nuwber can be used to:

* Identify additional addresses, telephone numbers or other identifiers associated with a person.
* Develop leads when investigating an individual, organisation or unknown identifier.
* Cross-reference names, locations and contact details found through other OSINT sources.
* Corroborate information obtained from public records, social media or other people-search services.
* Document profile URLs, associated identifiers and the date information was observed.
* Support identity-resolution and entity-linking during an OSINT investigation.
* Inform further research by identifying additional identifiers that can be investigated independently.

**Reporting caveat:** Results should be presented as leads or corroborating information, rather than definitive proof of identity. Its data can contain errors, dated records, or incorrect associations.

| **Capabilities** | **Limitations** |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Searches using names, phone numbers, addresses and email addresses. | Data may be inaccurate, incomplete or outdated. |
| Can reveal additional identifiers associated with a person. | An association does not necessarily establish that two records belong to the same person. |
| Can surface historical or associated address information. | Coverage and availability vary by location and individual. |
| Can assist with identity resolution and entity linking. | Some information may require payment or subscription access. |
| Can complement other people-search and public-record sources. |

                                                                               |

### Summary

Nuwber fits best in the enrichment, entity-resolution, and verification stages of the OSINT workflow. Investigators can use it after identifying a person, telephone number, email address or address to discover additional identifiers and build connections between records.

It’s particularly useful for generating leads and corroborating information from other sources, but should not be treated as an authoritative identity source.

### Ownership

Nuwber Inc. is a US-registered corporation and data broker. Dimitri Shelest is the founder and has [publicly acknowledged retaining an ownership stake](https://krebsonsecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Dimitri-Shelest-Letter-_-Comment-on-Krebs-article-3.20.24-1.pdf) in Nuwber. ### Ethical Considerations

* Treat Nuwber results as leads, not proof of identity.
* Verify important information using independent sources.
* Avoid unnecessarily collecting or recording personal information.
* Do not use Nuwber information alone to make decisions that could materially affect an individual.
* Exercise additional care when information concerns vulnerable people, protected individuals or sensitive personal circumstances.
