| What it does | Analyses visible evidence in an image and produces location hypotheses for OSINT verification and geography research. |
| How to use it | Upload a photo, review the clue-by-clue reasoning, then verify likely locations with maps, satellite imagery, reverse image search, and independent evidence. |
| Cost | Partially free; paid access is available for fuller usage. |
| Account required | No for public information pages. Yes for full analysis/history. |
| Cookies                    | Uses standard website/auth/payment cookies.                                                                                                                   |
| Ownership | Founded in 2025 by ‘Andy’ and based in Hong Kong. |
| Use in Reporting | Useful for leads and hypotheses in reports, but results should be verified and not treated as standalone proof. |

### What does Reverse Image Location do?

Reverse Image Location is an AI-assisted photo geolocation tool. It examines visible clues such as signs, road markings, vegetation, architecture, terrain, vehicles, shadows, and surrounding map context. The output is structured reasoning that helps analysts form location hypotheses rather than a simple black-box answer.

**The lowdown:** It’s designed for image geolocation rather than reverse image matching, making it useful when an image has never appeared online or when no exact duplicate exists.

### How to Use:

**1. Open the tool page and upload the image.**

**2. Review the generated clue analysis and likely location hypotheses.**

**3. Cross-check the reasoning with maps, satellite imagery, street-level imagery where lawful, reverse image search, and other independent sources. Record only verified evidence in reporting, and keep the AI result as supporting hypothesis generation.**
### Cost

* [ ] Free
* [x] Partially Free
* [ ] Paid

Paid access is available for fuller usage.

**Note:** We upgraded to a one day pass for $5.99 total as the preview access was very limited.

## Data Processing

### Account Required:

* [x] Yes
* [x] No

Yes for full analysis/history but public information pages are accessible without an account.

### Cookies:

The site uses analytics, consent-management, and authentication cookies (including Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Supabase session cookies) to support website functionality, usage tracking, privacy preferences, and user login sessions.

Analysts should avoid uploading sensitive personal data unnecessarily.

### Use in Reporting

Reverse Image Location can support OSINT reporting by helping identify geographic clues, generate search directions, and document why a location hypothesis may be plausible

Potential investigative applications include:

* Verification of locations shown in social media posts.
* Fact-checking claims associated with online images.
* Supporting journalistic investigations by generating possible image locations.
* Assisting researchers analysing publicly available imagery.
* Supporting open-source investigations where traditional reverse image search methods fail.

**Note:** Outputs should be independently verified before being used as investigative findings.

| **Capabilities**                                                                                  | **Limitations**                                                                    |

| Image geolocation hypothesis generation. | Output is not standalone proof. |
| Visible clue reasoning for signs, roads, vegetation, terrain, architecture, vehicles,and shadows. | Accuracy depends on image quality and visible clues. |
| GeoGuessr-style geography learning and training. | Ambiguous, indoor, cropped, edited, or generic scenes may produce weak hypotheses. |
| OSINT image verification support. | Sensitive images require lawful handling and privacy review. |
| Map and satellite imagery cross-check workflow support. |

                                                                        |

### Summary

Image Reverse Location is valuable for generating investigative leads and can significantly reduce the time required to begin geolocation analysis. It’s best used early in an image verification workflow, followed by independent verification with maps, satellite imagery, reverse image search, EXIF/metadata checks when available, and source context.

### Ownership

### Ethical Considerations

* Use only for lawful OSINT, research, education, and verification tasks.
* Do not use results for harassment, stalking, doxxing, or targeting private individuals.
* Avoid uploading sensitive personal images unless authorised.
* Verify hypotheses independently before publishing or acting on them.
* Clearly label AI-assisted outputs as hypotheses, not proof.
