### What does Subreddits.org do?

Subreddits.org acts as a simplified alternative to Reddit’s built-in search, making it easier to quickly discover relevant or niche subreddits without needing a Reddit account. Users can search for topics of interest, browse suggested communities, and then follow links directly to Reddit for deeper exploration.

**The lowdown:** Instead of relying on Reddit’s sometimes limited search, it helps investigators quickly locate relevant subreddits, proving useful when trying to map where a subject might post, engage, or leave digital traces.

### How to Use:

**1. Enter a keyword (interest, topic, or niche) into the search bar or browse through the list of subreddits which can appear as a ‘wall’ as the below, or filtered into a list:**

### 2. Review suggested subreddits and identify relevant communities. (We searched ‘opensource’).

**3. Pivot to Reddit to analyse posts, users, and interactions within those communities.**

**Important Note:** It appears this site is no longer being updated as the OSINT subreddit is nowhere to be found so be mindful that many subreddits may be missing.

### Use in Reporting

Subreddits.org can support:

* Identifying relevant online communities linked to a subject.
* Demonstrating interest areas or affiliations.
* Providing context for where further Reddit-based OSINT was conducted.

In an OSINT context, it’s mainly used as a discovery tool, helping investigators identify where discussions around a person, interest, or topic are likely happening, before pivoting into Reddit itself for more detailed analysis.

| **Capabilities** | **Limitations** |
| ---------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Fast discovery of niche/obscure subreddits. | Does not provide user-level data directly. |
| Keyword-based subreddit search. | Results depend on keyword quality (not all subreddits are included e.g. OSINT). |
| Helps map interest-based communities. | May miss new or private subreddits. (Appears to not being updated/maintained). |
| No account needed. | No advanced filtering or analytics. |
| Useful pivot point into deeper OSINT investigations. | Requires manual pivot to Reddit for deeper intelligence. |

### Summary

Subreddits.org is a simple but effective discovery tool for finding relevant Reddit communities quickly, best used as a starting point for deeper Reddit OSINT rather than a standalone intelligence source, especially as it no longer appears to be being updated.

### Ownership

Independent directory website (not officially affiliated with Reddit). **Note:** the contact button no longer links to a live contact link on Reddit, suggesting this site is no longer being updated/maintained.

### Ethical Considerations

* Respect user privacy and platform terms of service.
* Avoid harassment or targeting individuals based on subreddit activity.
* Be cautious when drawing conclusions from community membership alone.
* Ensure lawful and proportionate use in investigations.
