### What does Track-Trace do?

Track-Trace is a multi-carrier shipment-tracking service that provides a single interface for tracking parcels, postal shipments, air cargo, containers and bills of lading.

It can automatically identify the relevant carrier from certain tracking-number formats and redirect or display the carrier's tracking results.

**The lowdown:** It’s ideal for quickly identifying a parcel’s carrier, tracking status, routing history, and delivery progress from a tracking number.

### How to Use:

**1. Select the appropriate tracking category, such as DHL, UPS, Post/EMS, Air Cargo, Container, or Bill of Lading, then enter the relevant tracking identifier.**

**2. Review the tracking information and, where necessary, follow the link to the relevant carrier's tracking service. Record the identifier, result and date/time observed for reporting.**

* Investigate publicly available information relating to a shipment or logistics movement.
* Track containers using standard container identifiers.

| **Capabilities** | **Limitations** |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Tracks shipments across multiple carriers from one interface. | Results depend on information supplied by the underlying carrier. |
| Supports parcel, postal and EMS tracking. | Not every carrier or shipment is necessarily supported. |
| Supports container and bill-of-lading tracking. | Tracking information can change or disappear over time. |
| Can automatically identify carriers from certain identifier formats. | A tracking result does not necessarily establish who owns or possesses a shipment. |
| Provides links to carrier tracking services and other logistics resources. | External carrier pages are outside Track-Trace's control and may have different availability or retention policies. |

### Summary

Track-Trace is a useful OSINT tool for quickly checking parcel and shipment information across multiple carriers and is best suited to verification and analysis within the OSINT workflow. However, results should ideally be corroborated with the relevant carrier’s official tracking system.

### Ownership

Owned and operated by Webfokus, a small Norwegian-based web development and online services provider.

### Ethical Considerations

* Treat tracking information as potentially sensitive, particularly where it could reveal someone's movements, address or activities.
* Do not assume that a tracking identifier establishes the identity of the sender or recipient.
* Cross-check significant findings against the underlying carrier's records where possible.
* Record the date and time because shipment status can change.
* Be aware that Track-Trace may redirect users to third-party carrier websites, whose privacy policies and data practices differ from Track-Trace's.
